I am a student at Oral Roberts University completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature. I am passionate about helping people overcome obstacles to realize and enjoy the power of language. I learned to tutor by helping family members and friends in high school. I now work as a tutor at the ORU Writing Center, helping international students and anyone else who struggles to write well or just wants a second pair of eyes to look over a paper. I am comfortable using various materials and curriculums, but if I'm tutoring on my own (as when editing an essay), I use a question and answer approach to help me understand the student's meaning and struggles. I have a 4.00 GPA and a 32 on the ACT (36 and 34 on English and Reading). I am active in my university's honors program, having spoken at events and taken all of the honors classes (24 credits) required to graduate. I also studied abroad at the University of Oxford, which uses a tutorial system that helped me refine my own tutoring style. I can assist with grammar, MLA or APA formatting, essay structure, and style. I am very familiar with and able to teach Medieval, Renaissance, Romantic, Victorian, Modern, and American literature. I am also competent in History and Latin, as well as most elementary, junior high, and high school subjects.
