Experience
I worked in the field of health care for 14 years, before realizing that what I really wanted to do was teach. I am most passionate about tutoring upper elementary-level Math, Phonics, Writing, Reading, Social Studies, English, and general study skills. I first attended St. Gregory's University in Oklahoma, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Business Management. After deciding to switch careers, I studied to become a teacher and am now certified in Special Education mild-moderate PK-12th grade. Soon, I am planning to also become certified to teach English Language Arts and US/Oklahoma History/Government/Economics. I currently attend Northcentral University, where I'm working my Master of Education degree, with a specialty in Special Education. When working with any student, my goal is to help them develop skills for critical thinking and reading, and to help them become assets to our society. I strive to keep every student completely engaged in a lesson I am teaching by helping them realize how the lesson is relevant to their lives. In my free time, I love historical research. I am a Navy veteran, so I especially enjoy making new discoveries in military history. I also like to stay in shape by working out and playing baseball. In addition, I enjoy camping and touring historical sites.
