Experience

I have taught college composition classes at Wichita State University for the last three years, and during that time I fell in love with helping students. I loved it so much, I made a career out of it. Now I run Icarus Editing Service, which focuses its services on (and lowers its pricing to accommodate) students and young working professionals who are just now launching their careers. Just as I have taught professionally for the last three years, I have also tutored on the side. I think I love tutoring even more than I love teaching because it gives me a chance to really get to know my students, and I have met many wonderful people as a tutor. I scored in the 90th percentile on the SAT, and in the 80th percentile on the GRE. Having finished two degrees in English, I have taken more English, writing, literature, and editing classes than I could ever write down here. Hobbies

I recently finished writing my first collection of short stories, which is titled Stained Glass, and now I spend much of my free time listening to Bjork, drinking tea, geocaching, and watching bad horror movies on Netflix. Lately, I've also been listening to my water heater make weird prolonged moaning sounds in the middle of the night. I'm convinced it's haunted, although I'm willing to admit that assumption probably comes from the aforementioned horror movies. :-) When I'm not going on adventures or watching horror movies, I read voraciously. That is what got me into this field to begin with. I also write a lot. I maintain four websites, which accounts for much of the writing, but I also continue to write creatively. I hope to have another collection finished by the end of this year.
