Private tutor in Tulsa, OK

Education

I graduated from The University of Tulsa with a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry and a Minor in Vocal Music. I graduated with a GPA of 3.70.

Experience

I graduated with a biochemistry degree and have worked in a university chemistry teaching lab, so I have a firm grasp on most of the biological and chemical sciences, as well as teaching experience. I tutored chemistry throughout college - both at the college level and to help students prepare for AP tests. I also spent the first year out of college tutoring two or three students a week, mainly in chemistry and math. Lastly I taught college level chemistry labs where I learned different methods for communicating with students of varying backgrounds and skill levels. I truly love learning, and I believe anyone can learn something new with the right instruction and some focused attention. It is the most exciting thing in the world to me to work with a student who doesn't think they are a "math person" or a "science person" or "into reading" and watch them gain confidence and skills as we work together. I want everyone to love learning as much as I do! I have scored very well in the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and GRE. I am a firm believer in the importance of these tests, as scoring well on the PSAT led to me receiving a full scholarship at TU. I know that standardized tests can be a challenge to some, and so I strive to help give students simple skills so that they can be prepared and confident going into what can be a stressful situation. Overall, I truly love the challenge of tutoring - trying to break down difficult concepts into manageable pieces and present them in an understandable way is extremely rewarding. I would love to work with you or your student to help you or them achieve success in any academic environment. Hobbies

I love music of all kinds - I have played the piano and sang since I was young. I love it so much I ended up getting a minor in Vocal Music and my husband still has to endure my incessant singing of musicals around the house while I clean! I've always been a reader and will read pretty much anything with words on it...I think it helps broaden a persons' experiences beyond what he or she would normally encounter. In the evenings, I enjoy crafting, baking, and walking through our neighborhood. Lastly, my husband and I love to travel - between the two of us we have been to 14 countries and three continents and are always hoping to explore more!
